Phyllis is based around the client’s love for a weekend surf break down in Devon and Cornwall. This is where my main inspiration came from for this build. The T5 is one of the smaller vehicles I have worked with. Therefore I had to come up with lots of space-saving ideas for this tiny home.
This van is now the perfect adventure machine for a weekend surf getaway!
The whole van-build is based on having somewhere to efficiently store a surfboard or two. I achieved this by designing a hide-away surfboard storage area. This ran along the inside of the van. Additionally, there is a wetsuit/towel drawer at the rear of the van for easy access. Furthermore, one of the main features aboard Phyllis is a flush-mounted tailgate shower.

The van is also fitted with a two-ring gas hob and 12v Dometic compressor fridge for some extra home comforts. To finish off the interior, Phyllis boasts a copper leaf ceiling, oak parquet flooring, marble tiles and a stunning copper effect worktop that houses an inbuilt laboratory sink. The cladding is a high-quality British Red Western Cedar that is sourced from a local sawmill.
And finally, to keep the chill off after a days surfing, I installed a powerful diesel heater.
All in all, this van is now the perfect adventure machine for a weekend surf getaway!
